Hikari Temple

Located on the lower terrace of the gardens and with Mount Shasta keeping watch, the Temple Space consists of three distinct design elements – a 400+ sq. ft. outdoor meditation area, a fireplace, and a 120+ sq. ft. labyrinth.

We created this sacred space for ceremony and practice. It offers the opportunity to connect with and honor the four elements – earth, air, fire, and water. Our beloved Mount Shasta holds the space, offering breathtaking views and representing the omnipresent ether element.

  • Our outdoor meditation lawn is perfect for yoga, sound baths, breath work, meditation, and circles. It honors the Air element. This 400+ sq ft area is flanked by two giant pine and cedar trees that filter the light, offering periods of sunshine and shade throughout the day and allowing you to choose your desired level of sunlight for your experiences.

The space can comfortably fit 15 to 16 mats. You’ll find a giant Tibetan gong which makes for divine sunrise sound baths.

  • Our sacred Fire Circle is located next to the yoga space and is perfect for ceremonies and gatherings. It represents and honors the element of Fire.

  • The final piece of the Temple space is the 120+ sq. ft. Labyrinth adjacent to the yoga space and made from rocks that have been placed in a beautiful spiral. In the corners, surrounding the labyrinth, you will find 4 rock pyramids, representing the 4 elements.

Created from rocks to honor the Earth element, the Hikari Labyrinth features an offering to the Water element at its center. We chose to use local volcanic rock to create a natural and rustic feel for this space and to honor the land and its beauty, the Earth element. At the center of the Labyrinth, you will find a water offering, one that brings the elements of Water and Earth together.

Our labyrinth is an invitation to connect to the land, to make sacred offerings to the four elements, to turn inward and explore what’s alive for you. To reset and find healing.

  • A fifth and final element, Ether, is omnipresent and represented by Mount Shasta whose presence surrounds Hikari Temple and helps to ground and hold the space. The magical and powerful energy vortex of our live volcano represents the element of Ether, and it provides the magical backdrop to our Temple.

Garden

The communal Garden offers an abundance of food and medicinal plants for our guests to enjoy. Our orchard has apple, Japanese cherries, and plum trees and we’ve planted a variety of vegetables in our raised beds which you are welcome to pick during your stay.

We’re also blessed to have an array of herbs and other medicinal plants scattered across the property including thyme, sage, chives, lemon balm, basil, oregano, and more. Use them as inspiration and ingredients for culinary creativity or for teas and offerings to the land.

Guests are welcome to help themselves to the sacred abundance of the land we steward. We look forward to sharing it with you.
